In my work I see it every day. Athletes who have
lost their love for the game; businessmen and women who are
burned out and have been zapped of their enthusiasm and
purpose. Lifeless people walking around the malls and stressed
out in their cars because they have presents to buy, gifts to
wrap, bills to pay, work to finish, a new year to plan and
more things to do in what seems like less time to do them.
Stop! Breathe... Inhale for 3 seconds. Exhale for 3
seconds... Count your Breaths. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Remember the purpose of this holiday season. When you live
each day with a deeper purpose you tap into the ultimate power
supply that never runs out. Most people are weary and tired
simply because they have lost their sense of purpose. In fact,
I have never met a person with low energy who was fueled by
purpose. So this holiday season I want to encourage you to
recharge, refocus and reenergize with purpose.
Remember the spirit of the season. Hanukkah represents
freedom and a belief in miracles. You are free this holiday
season to choose your attitude and enjoy life and know that
the more attention you put on miracles the more they appear in
your life. A Course in Miracles reminds us that
miracles are natural; if they don't occur something is wrong.
Kwanzaa represents a celebration of family, community,
culture. Remember you are here to celebrate this holiday
season. Celebrate life. Celebrate your culture and know that
you are part of one big family we call humanity.
Christmas represents pure love. When Jesus was asked by the
Pharisees to settle their debate or perhaps drag Jesus into
the debate about which of the laws in the Old Testament are
most important, Jesus simply answered, "The most important
command is this: Love the Lord your God with all your heart,
all your soul and all your mind, and all your strength. The
second command is this: Love your neighbor as you love
yourself. There are no commands more important than these."
Jesus essentially narrowed down all of the teachings into the
simplest, most powerful lesson of all- Love.
He wasn't interested in political correctness and he railed
against religious symbols and hypocrisy. He could care less
about whether or not we should have Christmas trees and
menorahs in airports, or whether we should say "Happy
Holidays" or "Merry Christmas" at work or whether nativity
scenes should be allowed in town centers or not. He simply
called us to love God and each other through our hearts and
through our actions. Instead of displaying faith through
objects and outward appearances he wanted us to feel it and
demonstrate it through relationship and love in action. If we
are fighting over religious symbols and land in the name of
God, if we're mortgaging our house to buy presents, or if we
are fighting over parking spaces at the mall then we have
surely forgotten our deeper purpose... leaving us lifeless and
spiritless.
So no matter what religious or spiritual symbol you have in
your home I want you to know that I celebrate you. I consider
you part of my family. I'm honored to have you part of this
community. I thank God that we have the freedom and means to
connect energetically through the internet. I believe we are
all miracles. And most of all I love you in words, action and
spirit. May you remember the true spirit of Christmas and may
it renew and restore you as you cultivate and share this love
with others.
