This was posted to my recent newsletter on dealing with adversity. It’s written by John Bushee
The first reaction to adversity is usually a feeling of being alone; it is a feeling of being the only one with a struggle. Comparisons are made to others who have it better or have it easier. (Often, behind the scenes, they are in the midst of their own struggle). Many years ago while serving in the Army as a teenager I began to see adversity differently. It became a challenge not a personal event. The picture in my minds eye became McDonald’s Golden Arches that proclaimed “Billions Served”.The point is that I was not the first and will not be the last. Many very ordinary people accepted their challenges and went before me and many would go after me. If you accept the challenge to perform and make the most of your situation you will be OK.
