I received a great email from Diane McDaniel, Director of Sales, at Meritage Homes in San Antonio, TX on how they are using The Shark and The Goldfish to help their team sell more homes. I’m sharing it, with her approval, and hope it inspires you. – Jon

Hi Jon – just wanted to share some pictures with you of The San Antonio Sales Team of Meritage Homes.
We have been reading and discussing your book in relation to the housing market and how to use your practices to assist us in selling homes!! On Tuesday night we had a “ring for results” night as a corporate initiative. As a division we are asked to come up with a theme that best describes what we are doing to bring in more buyers!! We have crowned ourselves and our initiative as “The San Antonio Shark Tank”!
I have included a picture of our team with our shark visors we wore to remind us to fish for food!! I am also including a picture of our new friends and team members – Gordy (the grey one) and Meri (the gold one) who are cheering us on in our endeavors!! We are having a great time using this book as a great story and learning experience. Every team member has a copy of your book and are bringing it to every weekly sales meeting to share what they used the message for during that week for their sales successes!!
By the way we started this book the first week of January and we busted our corporate plan by 6 sales for the month of January!! We will continue to use The Shark and The Goldfish throughout 2011 as we add communities, staff, and many other exciting things coming our way!!
We will be reading your other books as a group throughout the year!!
By the way, the cowbell in the tank has a big significance also – we used the Saturday Night Skit with Will Ferrell “Need more Cowbells” over the past few months and had great success with it and decided that Gordy and Meri needed a reminder of this in their new home!! Also as you can see by the visors, Sammy has a very prominent place in the division!!
Thanks again for the book!!
Diane
