Many of you have probably heard of or seen The
Secret. It's a DVD movie that explains the law of
attraction and how to use it to manifest the things you want
in your life. It has appeared on Oprah twice in the last month
and is generating media attention, a huge buzz and discussions
around the world. "Can we really create our life through our
beliefs," many are asking. "Where does God fit into The
Secret? If you use The Secret in your life does
this mean that nothing bad will happen to you? Can you use
The Secret to find the man, the house, the job, the
life and the success of your dreams?"
The law of attraction is important to share and it's a big
part of my new book, "The
Energy Bus," which tells the story of a man who uses the
law of attraction to help turn around the negativity, fear,
adversity, and challenges in his life. In understanding the
law of attraction many are now realizing that they are
involved in the creation of their lives; that their energetic
thoughts, beliefs and actions have an impact on the world and
in imprint on the energy fabric of the universe.
I'm thankful for The Secret as it delivers a message
that has the potential to move so many out of a victim
consciousness that keeps us from the joy, happiness, love,
success and the life we were born to live... but there is
more...
While having dinner the other night with Erwin McManus,
author of "Soul
Cravings" and a person who has had a profound impact on my
life, we discussed The Secret and Erwin made a great
point that we need to explain there is a secret behind The
Secret.
God gave us free will and the power to choose. In choosing
to have faith and believing in a brighter and better future,
cultivating a grateful and appreciative heart, and practicing
forgiveness we open ourselves up to amazing possibilities. We
become a vessel God can use to mold into the people we were
born to be... who share the love we were meant to share.
We are co-creators of our life with God. We are both
creating and being created at the same time. The universe is
not some magic genie that's says, "Your wish is my command,"
bringing you any car, house, or amount of money you desire.
The Secret does not exist to satisfy your every wish
but to help us become the kind of people God can use to make
His ultimate wish come true - Heaven on Earth and inside each
one of us.
For years I worked on me, me trying to acquire things,
things, and more things. Using the techniques I share in my
books and that are also found in The Secret, I began
the process of self-transformation that made a big impact on
my life. But there came a point when I realized I couldn't do
it alone. I hit a wall. My will would only take me so far. My
strength wasn't strong enough. My love wasn't big enough. I
realized instead of just me working on me I needed to let God
work on me. Only when I surrendered, did my entire life truly
begin to change and abundance flow into and out of my life. I
learned that I wouldn't always get everything I thought I
wanted because it wasn't in my highest good. God often has
bigger and different plan for us than we do. I realized that
no matter how much I practice the law of attraction "bad"
things would still happen because they help us learn, grow and
ultimately lead to Good and God. I discovered that no matter
how much I practiced feeling positive, unless I gave the
burden and pain in my heart and sludge in my energy pipeline
to God nothing new could flow into my life. And Instead of
self confidence I found God confidence. Instead of my will I
found God's will. And instead of just my love, I found a love
and grace like I have never known that flows through me and my
actions.
Many who watch The Secret will make it their mission
to find the house, the person, the car and the wealth of their
dreams. And whether or not they achieve this mission, as part
of the growth process, they will ultimately find that
something is still missing. Because in our seeking of all
these things, the secret behind The Secret is that what
we are really seeking is a oneness and love connection with
God; with our creator and our source. We seek security in
money and gated communities but it's all an illusion. Security
can only be found in God. We seek the love and approval of
others but it can only be found in being connected to the
ultimate source of love. We seek material things to try to fix
our brokenness and feel better but true healing can only be
found in the grace available to all of us.
We are all searching and since The Secret sets many
on the path I welcome it, knowing the process will lead to
growth and the opportunity to discover truth. And through this
process let us continually remind ourselves that in seeking
physical things what we are ultimately seeking is a spiritual
connection and oneness with God. The love, the joy, the peace,
the security, the faith, the purpose, the passion, the
enthusiasm, the highest expression of our soul can only be
found in this oneness and not in a genie that will just give
us things and grant our every wish. God is not here to satisfy
our material desire but to satisfy our hearts and souls
desire-which is to live our purpose and experience love and
oneness. When we experience this love we will have found the
secret behind The Secret and true abundance from which
everything flows.
